Here's what you missed from Disney Lorcana's May Livestream!
Disney Lorcana are getting ahead of the game when it comes to set releases. We knew a while ago that Fabled was the 9th set to be released following Reign of Jafar, but that's all we knew. Well, with the latest stream hosted on the 6th of May 2025, we've got a better idea of what to expect for the rest of Year 2 into Year 3 for Lorcana.
Reign of Jafar Card Reveals
Kicking off our blog are the Reign of Jafar card reveals. We're seeing the return of dual ink cards, which were introduced in Archazia's Island, with a lot of animal features. Patch, Bolt, Lady and Abu are all getting dual ink cards with this set - alongside the likes of a few familiar faces such as Hiro Hamada and Mulan.
Not only that, but with Reign of Jafar we are seeing the characters from Bambi enter the fray! Bambi, Thumper, Flower and Friend Owl have all been announced for the upcoming set - and they look absolutely adorable!
Finally, we got a glimpse of what to expect with this set's Illumineer's Quest: Palace Heist. We already knew that this was a heist (I mean, it's in the name!), and with the stream we saw some more new cards! Tiger Behemoth, Hulking Statue; Disastrous Sandstorm; and Genie, Towering Phantom are just some of the cards you'll be up against on this quest. Fitting, given Jafar's history!
You can check all the card reveals out on our dedicated Reign of Jafar blog here!
Set 9: Fabled
As we mentioned previously, we got a better look at the 9th set coming out in September named Fabled. This set is designed to usher Lorcana into the next chapter, which includes the first rotation and new additions to the game. Let's get into it!
New Rarities
For those who love collecting beautiful cards, get ready to welcome September 5th as Fabled brings with it two new rarities! Iconic and Epic are the newest additions with Iconic cards being extremely rare - only two appearing in each set, and Epic cards appearing more often than Enchanted cards but will feature special artwork and foil treatments. This is exciting as it gives collectors and players alike the opportunity to get a hold of some truly striking and unique cards.
Set Rotation & New Format
For the first time since launch, we're seeing Disney Lorcana have their first rotation. The first four sets - The First Chapter; Rise of the Floodborn; Into the Inklands; and Ursula's Return - will be rotating out of the Core Constructed format.
Which leads us nicely onto the next announcement; a brand new format. Disney Lorcana will be introducing a new format called Infinity Constructed - where you can use all those cards that have been rotated out as if nothing ever happened! This is to allow the game to stay fresh, yet not invalidate fans who have these cards in their collections.
Collection Starter Set
That's not all, with Fabled comes a brand new product! Say hello to the Collection Starter Set, a product designed to entice existing Disney fans who have never picked up Lorcana to start their collection. Essentially, Lorcana want to reward fans who crack packs! This product will come with 4 booster packs, 1 Promo Card of Tinker Bell, 1 Collector's Guide and a Card Portfolio. It'll be interesting to see if this is a standard portfolio, or is numbered to help collector's know exactly what they need.
Set 10 and Beyond
Finally, we got a glimpse into the future of Disney Lorcana, starting with Set 10. Though very little was announced for this set, we know that it's called Whispers in the Well and that it features Ariel and Mickey Mouse in the main artwork - with a shadowy figure in the background. That figure looks to be a gargoyle, which hints heavily that we'll see Disney's Gargoyles characters start to make their way into the game! We've also seen that characters from The Black Cauldron will be introduced, and both of these franchises have long been requested by fans.
Furthermore, an all new type of glimmer will make waves in Whispers in the Well - called Ethereal Glimmers. Unfortunately, that's all we know about the 10th set of Lorcana! So keep an eye on this space for when more reveals are announced.
We can see from the timeline provided by Ravensburger that Reign of Jafar is the final set for Year 2 (not to be confused with 2025 as a year, but the 2nd year in the lifespan of Lorcana). Year 3 will begin in Q3, with Fabled being released on September 5th, followed by Whispers in the Well in Q4. It seems Lorcana have planned all the way to at least Set 13, so we're eager to see what they have in store!
