Archazia's Existence Confirmed

Archazia has been revealed as a figured cloak in elegant owl regalia and is stated to be an ancient Illumineer with wisdom from a forgotten age. Under her guidance, you will unlock the ability to harness even more powerful inkcasting magic. But what part does this play within the game?

Well, for a start she introduces dual ink types into the game. We'll get more into that in a moment, but something new you'll find in the booster packs expands upon the lore of Lorcana. We're used to seeing the typical art cards that create a whole image, but this time within the booster packs you will find lore cards. Each of these cards is a "page" that, when put together with the other lore cards, will reveal an adventure and expand upon the story. 

Dual Ink Casting

As we previously thought, dual ink types are coming to the game in a unique way. Dual ink cards will only come into play once you have shown that you have inked one of each ink type. Quoted from the Lorcana site:

Since the beginning of Disney Lorcana TCG, every card has belonged to one of the six magical ink colours; Amethyst, Amber, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Steel. Each of these inks has its own distinctive personality, from both a game play and story perspective. And finally, when you build your own deck you are limited to having up to 2 different ink colours in it.

Dual-ink cards belong to two inks, and have characteristics from both of them. To include them in your deck, you must be playing those two colours.

This allows for cards with game effects that would otherwise never be on the same card as well as characters that can show off more than one of their traits, as well as completely new ones!

This just makes us even more excited for Archazia's Island to land on shelves in March!

Disney Lorcana is kicking off the New Year with their 7th set named Archazia's Island. This set brings a lot of new changes and interesting additions, including Bolt's big debut! This set was announced alongside their 8th set, Reign of Jafar, and is set to release at Local Game Stores on Friday the 7th of March, with a worldwide release on the 21st.

Archazia's Island is an island that is filled to the brim with pets! Bringing Lady and the Tramp and Bolt's character line-up with it, with the likelihood of Perdita and Pongo getting new cards too. This mystical location also features characters from Alice in Wonderland, such as the Mad Hatter; Beauty and the Beast; and Aladdin, clearly setting up the set to follow. The most interesting part of this new setting is Lorcana's very first own character, Archazia. Archazia is an owl creature who has heterochromia, and given how intentional Disney's designs are, this is likely a nod towards the inks that Archazia may represent. Although, it may even be a hint towards something that has been speculated for a long time...dual inks!

Dual Ink Cards

After revealing Archazia, Disney Lorcana indeed confirmed that dual inks are making their way into the TCG. In a series of posts from Jan 24th to Jan 26th, we got to see that cards such as Belle, Mechanic Extraordinaire; Lady, Miss Park Avenue; and Jafar, Newly Crowned are all dual ink types. Not much else is known about how this mechanic will work, we can only assume from other TCGs that have this feature such as Magic the Gathering. Our resident Lorcana expert here at Total Cards believes that these dual ink cards will only come into play once you have shown that you have inked one of each ink type, with a possibility of them being splashable in other decks using the same principle as you have to reveal what you're sending to the inkwell, so you could reveal and ink a ruby card to open that up.
