A Statement Regarding the Illustration Contest 2024 Promo Cards
Hi Folks,
We feel there has been a misunderstanding amongst a few people regarding where the Pokemon Illustration Contest promo cards came from. These were not sourced from the Pokemon Centre themselves, but were provided to Local Game Stores as part of a TCPi promotion. We were allocated a set amount of promo cards to give out during today's celebrations as a gift-with-purchase.
We want to clarify that the £100 threshold for the promo card was never intended to be unfair or exclusionary. Like many small businesses, we have a very limited amount of stock—only a small handful of these promo cards were allocated to us. We chose to offer them as a gift-with-purchase at this level to reward and show appreciation to our most loyal customers, many of whom regularly support us with large orders. This was our way of saying thank you to those who have supported our business and shared their passion for Pokemon with us.
It’s also worth noting that many other retailers have remained silent about these promo cards and have likely kept them for themselves. We didn’t want to do that. Instead, we chose to share the love on Pokemon Day—a day meant to celebrate the joy and community that Pokemon brings to all of us. We believe it’s important to give back to the fans who make this community so special, even if it means facing criticism for trying to do something positive.
We completely understand the frustration surrounding the limited availability of these promo cards, and we share your disappointment. Unfortunately, the shortage is a result of broader supply constraints that are beyond our control. We’re doing our best to navigate these challenges while staying true to our love for Pokemon and our commitment to our community.
Thank you for your understanding and for being part of our journey. We truly value your support and are grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with you.
