First Look at Magic the Gathering Tarkir Dragonstorm!

It's officially Tarkir Dragonstorm spoiler season and holy moly, the cards that have been revealed so far are INSANE. From stunning card treatments to incredibly powerful cards, this set is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Let's quickly recap what was announced at MagicCon 2025 before getting into those all-important card spoilers!

MagicCon 2025 Announcements

Back in February, we got a look at a few upcoming sets for Magic the Gathering, one of which was Tarkir Dragonstorm. We learned that the headliner card for this set is Mox Jasper, a 0 cost Legendary Artifact which - when tapped - gives you one mana of any colour. It can also only be activated if you control a Dragon. It's certainly not a "wow" card that would blow everyone away, but at 0 cost it's an incredibly playable card for those with Dragon decks. The serialised version is a Serialised Double Rainbow Foil in a Retro Frame - limited to 500. The headliner, as usual, can be found in Collector Boosters of Tarkir: Dragonstorm.

We also learned that the clans Abzan (), Jeskai (), Sultai(), Mardu () and Temur () would be making a comeback, and you can see these featured in the Commander Decks and Pre-Release kits.

Finally, we were teased with the card treatments that were expected with this set, such as the Halo Foil Treatment and Draconic Frames. Which leads us perfectly into the current spoilers!

Spoiler Season Begins

The reveals from this set are absolutely insane, and we mean it. Rather than waffle on about why - we're just going to show you! Starting with one word: Ugin.

Ugin, Eye of the Storms

Legendary Planeswalker - Ugin

When you cast this spell, exile up to one target permanent that's one or more colours.

Whenever you cast a colourless spell, exile up to one target permanent that's one or more colours.

: You gain 3 life and draw a card.

: Add

: Search your library for any number of colourless nonland cards, exile them, then shuffle. Until end of turn, you may cast those cards without paying their mana costs.

Really, there's nothing else to say is there? A 7 Colourless cost Legendary Planeswalker with a 2 turn Ultimate; not to mention he has Exile, Life Gain, Card Draw and free Mana. What were WOTC thinking?! Either way, folks who play Ugin are going to have a blast and those against him better start making alliances to get him off the board. We're expecting to see him in plenty of Eldrazi decks upon release, but be prepared for bans and changes to take place once Ugin debuts.

Craterhoof Behemoth

Creature - Beast

Haste

When this creature enters, creatures you control gain trample and get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of creatures you control.

5/5

Craterhoof Behemoth is back, baby! This insane Beast Creature with Haste (which circumvents summoning sickness) that gives your creatures trample AND get +X/+X where X is the number of creatures you control? Elf deck players are buzzing with excitement. Whilst we saw Craterhoof Behemoth not that long ago (Innistrad Remastered) we haven't seen it in the stunning Halo Foil or Borderless Clan treatments. This version of Craterhoof Behemoth will truly spice up your deck!

There are other awesome cards we could spend all day highlighting, but we think you're better off checking out the gallery below. In the meantime, let's go over some of the standout treatments that make this set really pop!

We've previously mentioned the Halo Foil, as shown with Craterhoof Behemoth, but other treatments include Borderless Clan cards, Draconic Frame Cards, Showcase Ghostfire, Dragon Eye Lands, Reversible Dragons and Dragonscale Foils! Man, that's a mouthful.

The Borderless Clan cards represent the five clans, with a colourful backdrop featured. We're hoping that these foils will be masked out on the black parts of the card, which will truly make the colours pop! You can find these in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles and Pre-Release packs.

Borderless Clan Cards

Draconic Frame cards are what it says on the tin. Akin to many of the themed frame cards we've had in the past, these cards feature a dragon-themed framing around the card which seems to be representative of the mana cost. You can find these in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles and Pre-Release packs.

Dragonic Frame Cards

Halo foil is making a comeback, and this foiling really pops on the Ghostfire cards. Showcase the enigmatic powers of Ugin on these exclusive foil cards, found only in Collector Boosters!

Halo Foil Cards

The Full Art lands in this set are pretty awesome. Of course, you have your typical Full Art Lands that feature...well, a depiction of land associated with that mana type. But what everyone has their eye on would be the Dragon Eye Full Arts! Get up close and personal with the dragons from this set when playing your lands, which can be found exclusively in Collector Boosters. But wait! You can also get your hands on the Wastes - a colourless Dragon Eye land card that serves as a WPN promo. There will be more information about this closer to release.

Full Art Dragon Eye Cards

Reversible Dragon cards are debuting in this set, and they're pretty interesting. Usually, reversible cards serve a mechanical purpose when playing MTG - however with these cards you'll find both sides are identical with exception to the artwork. These Reversible Dragon cards showcase the younger versions of the iconic dragons, such as Ugin! You can find these in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles and Pre-Release packs.

Reversible Dragon Cards

Finally, the card treatment that caught everyone's attention. Dragonscale. Foil. Fetch. Lands. You read that right, the Fetch Lands in this set have the opportunity to feature a Dragonscale Foil treatment. These cards are...well, wow! No words could explain exactly how they look, you're better off taking a look for yourself!

Dragonscale Foil Cards

With all this in mind, we'll keep updating this blog each time more cards get revealed - so be sure to check back regularly. Whilst you're here, why not pre-order Tarkir Dragonstorm? This set releases on the 11th of April.
