Wizards of the Coast has issued the latest Magic: The Gathering Banned and Restricted announcement, effective June 29, 2026. The update delivers significant changes across Legacy, Pauper, and Brawl.
Legacy — Candelabra of Tawnos Banned
Candelabra of Tawnos is banned. The powerful mana-doubling artifact had become a cornerstone of High Tide and Colourless Tron combo strategies in Legacy, enabling explosive mana generation that proved too difficult to interact with. Its banning is intended to bring these strategies back into a healthier range.
Pauper — Seeker of Skybreak Banned
Seeker of Skybreak is banned. This common creature was enabling too many untap-based infinite combo lines in the Pauper format, warping the metagame around its interactions.
Brawl — Six Cards Banned
The most sweeping changes come to Brawl, where six cards have been banned in one update:
These removals target both free counterspells and extra turn effects that had been frustrating to play against and warping Brawl games. No changes were made to Competitive Brawl.
No Changes
Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Vintage, Alchemy, Historic, and Timeless all remain unchanged.
