What can we expect from Pokémon Day?

Pokémon Day is almost upon us!

Every year, Pokémon fans across the world get ready to celebrate the anniversary of Pokémon's release back in 1996. With a huge celebration always comes huge reveals for the franchise, whether it be in the form of merch and collectibles or something so much bigger! Today we're delving into what fans are looking to see dropped on the 27th Anniversary next Monday!

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC

With Scarlet & Violet still fresh in our minds from its release last year, there's a firm belief that we'll see a DLC announced on Monday. DLCs are something that Pokémon have delved into during the Sword & Shield era, with the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra bringing a flurry of new characters and Pokémon with them. With the past patterns of Pokémon Day announcements, it's only a matter of time before we see some extra content dropped for the Paldea region - with new quest lines, new Pokémon and so much more!

Game Boy Games on the Nintendo Switch!

With the addition of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance for Nintendo Switch Online customers, along with the recent release of classic handheld games such as The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX and Kirby's Dream Land, Pokémon fans are hoping to see the classic Pokémon games added to this growing library of video game history! These era-defining games outlined many of our childhoods, and to have them at our fingertips anytime, anywhere would be a dream come true. Though the offering for Game Boy fans is slim right now, we know that many of us are at the edge of our seats waiting for the announcement that games such as Pokémon Red or Emerald are going to join the roster. One can only hope!

New Pokémon Anime Reveals

We all said goodbye to Ash Ketchum recently, and while we're all still feeling that chapter close there's a new journey on the horizon. Whilst the series is definitely airing on April 14th, fans are hoping to see further glimpses of what to expect from the eighth anime series. We're eager to meet protagonists Liko and Roy, but having a greater look into what will unfold along the way is bound to create some buzz and excitement in the run up to release day! With the introduction of Terrastilisation, this means that the latest Pokémon series is going to be pulling out all the stops!

Rumours of a new Game Entry

There are lots of video game rumours swirling around, but one that sticks out is the potential for a new Mystery Dungeon game. Mystery Dungeon is a well-loved series that hasn't seen an entry since 2020 with the release of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, so lots of fans are truly hoping for a new release in the coming year. There's speculation whether it will be remake of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, or a completely new story from scratch. Whether this news is true or not, we are excited to see what Pokémon Day has in store!

Other Anticipated Announcements:

• New Merch: This announcement is likely a given, with the constant release of new merch we are heavily expecting to be getting new lines for Pokémon Day!
• Pokémon GO Community Content: We're already seeing interesting community content come through just days before February 27th, with a Pokémon GO Tour of Hoenn boasting additional encounters, new raids and another costumed Pikachu! We're excited to find out what may be in store for the big day!
• Pokémon UNITE Content: With special log-in bonuses and an exciting new type of quick battle being dropped just a week before Pokémon Day, we're hoping to see some even more exciting content introduced! We already know you get a special Pokémon Day t-shirt and matching cap as log in bonuses, but is there anything else in store? We'll have to wait to find out!
• Pokémon Together: The theme this year is Pokémon Together, celebrating as a community the impact that Pokémon has had on our lives over the years. We're excited to see the content produced from this, and the different ways we're all connected through Pokémon!
