Dive into Magic the Gathering with competitive challenger decks!

If you're interested in joining the Magic the Gathering community, a great way to make an entrance into the hobby is with a pre-constructed (or pre-con) challenger deck. These decks are designed to be competitive straight from the box and should give any player a fighting chance at the local level. Each year sees the release of new challenger decks to match the current state of the game. Although the 2020 and 2019 decks aren't on the cutting edge the same way the 2021 decks are they still have a lot to offer a new player.

The 2020 Challenger Decks include:

  • Final Adventure A green/black deck that focuses on playing a bunch of Adventure spells from Throne of Eldraine with the help of "Edgewall Innkeeper" as a card advantage engine. There's also "Lucky Clover" to help you gain more value with your Adventure spellls.
  • Allied Fires This Jeskai-colored deck with a bunch of Planeswalkers like "Narset, Parter of the Veils", "Ugin, the Ineffable", and "Sarkhan the Masterless" as well as "Fires of Invention" to help you cast your powerful spells more efficiently.
  • Cavalcade Charge This mono-red deck is focused on playing fast creatures like "Fervent Champion" and "Runaway Steam-Kin" while also having "Torbran, Thane of Red Fell" to help put more pressure against your opponents. The deck also comes with the powerful red equipment card "Embercleave".
  • Flash of Ferocity This Simic-coloured (green and blue) deck is focused on playing instant-speed spells to help fuel your tempo game plan with cards like "Brazen Borrower", "Nightpack Ambusher", and "Spectral Sailor".

Each challenger deck includes the following:

  • a 60-card main deck
  • a 15-card sideboard
  • a spindown life counter
  • a quick reference guide
  • a box capable of holding 75 sleeved cards
