Battle Card Breakdown - New Card Type from MTG!

March of the Machine has recently released and includes a brand-new card type that we are very excited about! Battle cards are completely new to Magic the Gathering and not only do they have some unique mechanics, they also have some awesome flavour.

The card type has been released in March of the Machine and appears as a series of sieges highlighting some of MTGs most prominent planes. Not only do they have some awesome playability they serve as a history of Magic the Gathering! We won't be expecting Battles in every future set, but as an Deciduous keyword, we're sure we will see it again.

Keep reading to learn about how they work and don't forget check out some of our favourite Battles down below.

How do they work?

Battles are a card type that has several unique features. When a Battle is played it can be attacked, just a Planeswalker. Sieges are currently the only variety of Battles that exist and when they are cast, you choose one opponent to defend it and you can attack it. This makes the cards unique in that they are the only cards that can be attacked by their controller. They are also placed horizontally on the field, which is another unique feature. Once a Battle has been defeated, at least in terms of a Siege, they are then transformed!
