Upcoming LEGO sets for August 2024!
It's that time again! A new month means a fresh wave of LEGO sets revealed, featuring beloved franchises and exciting newcomers. Here's a detailed look at some of the most anticipated LEGO releases for August 2024. As always, you can find all these products in more detail on our site!
Nintendo-Themed LEGO Sets
Nintendo-themed LEGO sets continue to delight fans of the games, and this August, there's a particularly exciting addition: Animal Crossing. This set is packed with Easter eggs for fans of all ages. Everyone's gathered to see KK's concert in the plaza. Isabelle and Odie are catching up on the latest news in the café, while the town hall is bustling with newly arrived items. Fun nods to the games include DIY recipe cards and a surprise hidden in the tree. The resident services flag is customizable, allowing kids to change out the base plates to match any season they want. Even though this set is recommended for ages 7 and up, many adults will be eager to add this to their collection. The minifigs in this set are particularly impressive, with new molded headpieces that look like they’ve come straight from the game. My favourite accessory has to be KK’s acoustic guitar, perfect for modders to enhance their collections.
But it's not just Animal Crossing that’s making waves. The LEGO Mario sets, which debuted four years ago, continue to evolve. The latest additions include the Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle. The attention to detail is incredible, with custom printing and a very video game-like blocky style.
Another highlight is Bowser’s Express Train Set from Super Mario 3D World. This set includes six LEGO Super Mario figures and offers a long, detailed build with three carriages. The set includes interactive elements where heroes can collect coins, adding a layer of gameplay to the building experience.
Lastly, we have King Boo’s Haunted Mansion Set. This set is packed with play features, including an interactive chest block and spiky gates at the front. It folds up for easier display and includes spooky décor inside. The set includes four LEGO Super Mario figures, with King Boo and a scared Boo being standout pieces.
Marvel Superhero LEGO Sets
August also brings a new wave of LEGO Marvel Superhero sets. Starting with a remake of the 2017 set, we have the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Milano. This set includes all four members of the Guardians, plus Baby Groot in his plant pot. It's based on the Milano from the first film and comes with adjustable wings and gear boosters, along with fun accessories like Star-Lord’s blasters and a tape deck.
Moving on to the Avengers, we have a set based on the Sakovia fight scene from Age of Ultron. This smaller playset is perfect for building an army of Iron Legion soldiers and includes Iron Man, two Iron Legionnaires, and a Hydra trooper. The detail on the minifigs, especially Iron Man, is outstanding.
The next LEGO set replicates the attack on New York from the first Avengers film, featuring a Leviathan and Chitauri soldiers. Despite the Leviathan being slightly out of scale, it’s an impressive build with a posable torso and fins.
We also have a set depicting the fight scene from the start of Age of Ultron. This set includes all the Avengers and three Hydra troopers, with modules for endless play possibilities. The figures come with a variety of accessories, and the set includes detailed explosion pieces and weaponry.
Finally, there's the Thor vs. Surtur Set, featuring a large, posable Surtur with a flaming sword. The set includes a transparent connector to make it look like Thor is flying around, adding dynamic action to the play experience.
LEGO Dreamzzz
LEGO's new franchise, LEGO Dreamzzz, encourages imaginative play. One standout set is Dream Animals, featuring a large buildable red panda that can transform into a bird or sea turtle. This set offers three different builds, providing endless play possibilities. It also includes a unique minifigure scale red panda toy and other fun accessories.
Another exciting set is Logan the Mighty Panda, which includes a panda mech that can transform into different forms. This set is designed for dynamic action, with a stud shooter for added playability.
The last Dreamzzz set is Zoey’s Cat Motorcycle, which transforms from a cat bike to a speedy cat toy with turbo boosters. This set includes the Raven and other characters from the series, making it a must-have for collectors.
LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog
We're also getting new LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets. The Tails Adventure Boat set includes a speed sphere launcher, karaoke machine, and dance floor, along with Sonic’s paraglider and jet skis. The set captures the Green Hill Zone landscape with collectible coins and Sonic’s favourite snack, the chili dog.
These new LEGO sets releasing in August 2024 offer something for everyone, from Nintendo and Marvel fans to those who love imaginative play with LEGO Dreamzzz and Sonic the Hedgehog. Be sure to check them out and add these exciting builds to your collection!
