Top 10 LEGO Star Wars sets from the last 25 years!

LEGO Star Wars is by far LEGO's most popular franchise in front of other classic's such as LEGO City, LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Classic. Fans love to see their favourite scenes re imagined in LEGO and collecting iconic characters as minifigures. LEGO Star Wars celebrates a massive 25 years this year, releasing sets to coincide with the anniversary, such as C-3PO and even another Millennium Falcon. So to reminisce on a fantastic 25 years, we're going to be ranking the Top 10 LEGO Star Wars sets from the last 25 years!

10. Trade Federation MTT #7662 (2007)

Starting off with a set from the very beginning of the Star Wars story The Phantom Menace is a vehicle that is instantly recognisable to fans of the series. The Trade Federation MTT comes with 1330 parts including 20 minifigure scale droids! This was the ultimate way to build a LEGO droid army back in the day with an intimidating vehicle to go with them. The official description for the set was:

When the Trade Federation MTT shows up, it's time for the enemy to start running! Open its hatches and extend the secret storage rack to deploy a legion of battle droids, armed and ready to fight. Top opens to reveal pilot cabin and steering controls. Open the hatch in the back to reveal a battle droid carrier vehicle! Open the sides to see inside! Turn gear on side to extend the storage rack and deploy the battle droids! Trade Federation MTT has hidden wheels for easy movement! Includes 16 regular battle droids, 2 red security battle droids, 2 blue pilot battle droids and a destroyer droid! Trade Federation MTT measures 16" (41 cm) long and 10" (25 cm) high!

This set is out of production now and not available to buy from LEGO themselves however you can pick up this set unopened for an eye watering £785 on eBay. That's enough imperial credits to buy a hyperdrive!

9. Ewok Village #10236 (2013)

LEGO Star Wars has and always will be the perfect gift for Star Wars fans aged 9 to 99 and gives builders no matter what age the best experience for them. LEGO Star Wars has had a ton of play feature sets that focuses on encouraging creative play and imaginative story telling. The Ewok Village from 2013 is a retired set that was on many fans Christmas lists as a much desired set! It captured the feeling of the Ewok village from Return of the Jedi with it's high treetop bridges, it's minifigure selection and the weapons and vehicles from the Battle of Endor. In the set you get: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, 2 Rebel Soldiers, 5 Ewoks, 2 Scout Troopers and 2 Stormtroopers. This is a massive selection of minifigures and was a great way to get the main cast in their Endor outfits. The set also comes with a Speeder so that children could recreate the Speeder showdown from the movie, as well as net traps and a catapult to fire at the enemies. There are easter eggs from the film included in this set too such as being able to tie Han Solo above a fire and even amazing the Ewoks with levitating chairs. You can get this set now online for a whopping £525!

8. Cloud City #10123 (2003)

Going way back now to 2003, the Cloud City set was ahead of it's time for many reasons. It took on the look of a diorama, something that LEGO would eventually do in 2022 with 6 sets. Something that eagle eyed LEGO fans will instantly recognise is the use of yellow minifigures, with this being one of the last sets to include yellow skin toned minifigures before the change in late 2003. The Cloud City set features 3 iconic scenes from the finale of The Empire Strikes Back; the Carbonite Chamber with Han Solo and Boba Fett, the Imperial interruption at the dinner table with Princess Leia and Lando Calrissian and the battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. For the length of the build, the set only actually has 698 pieces making it significantly smaller than the last 2 sets we looked at. With this set being so old it's no surprise that this set is discontinued, but if you really needed this set then you can expect to spend  £6000 on it! But if you don't want to spend quite that much then worry not as you can buy the original Luke Skywalker Cloud City minifig for just £300... YIKES!

7. UCS Death Star #75159 (2016)

LEGO Star Wars have a line of sets that are known as the Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) that are the best of the best! We'll have a few more of these sets later in this blog, however the first one we want to fanboy over is the spectacular UCS Death Star. This is the ultimate LEGO Death Star, rivaling the original back in 2008. This updated version includes new minifigs and recreates iconic scenes from A New Hope perfectly. The best minifigures from this massive set include the Death Star Trooper, Stormtrooper versions of Han and Luke as well as a buildable Mouse Droid. The original description at the time was:

Reenact amazing scenes from the Star Wars saga with the Empire’s ultimate planet-zapping weapon—the Death Star! With over 4,000 pieces, this fantastic model has a galaxy of intricate and authentic environments, including a superlaser control room, Imperial conference chamber, hangar bay with moving launch rack and Lord Vader’s TIE Advanced with space for Vader inside, Emperor Palpatine’s throne room, Droid maintenance room, detention block, trash compactor, tractor beam, cargo area, turbo laser with spring-loaded shooters and seats for the 2 Death Star Gunners, and 2 movable turbo laser towers. This fantastic set also includes 23 iconic minifigures and 2 Droids to ensure hours of Star Wars battle fun.

The attention to detail in this set is mind blowing from the design of the minifigure prints to the moveable play features. You can pick up this retired set for £895.95 sealed, which is justifiable for the quality of this build.

6. Motorized Walking AT-AT #10178 (2007)

The Empire Strikes Back is referred to as the perfect Star Wars film by many fans and a large part of that is due to it's out-of-this-galaxy action sequences! Nothing beats the opening Battle of Hoth scenes where Luke Skywalker takes on an AT-AT with his Snow Speeder and grapple. In the 2007 set this action is taken up a notch with the Motorized Walking AT-AT, adding an extra level of play for young builders.

Behold the power of the Empire! For the first time ever, the ultimate Motorized Walking AT-AT is ready to crush the Rebel Alliance at your command. Thanks to the Power Functions System, the mighty All-Terrain Armored Transport really walks forward or backward into battle! Features an opening cockpit and rotating laser cannons! Motorized Walking AT-AT really walks and its head moves up and down! Handle on top allows for easy transport! Stands over 12" (30cm) tall and over 14" (36cm) long Includes AT-AT Pilot, General Veers, Snowtrooper and Luke Skywalker with grappling line and lightsaber! Includes battery box and motor Requires 6 AA (1.5V) batteries, not included.

This is an early example of LEGO upping the ante with motorized parts that are more common in sets today. The minifigs aren't too bad either with a Snowtrooper and rare AT-AT Driver. Watching this video of the AT-AT in action it is impressive how well the build walks by itself, however it does make us nervous about the set missing a step and ending in a catastrophe! The set goes for between £479.94 to £734.99 which is respectable for this outstanding (and walking) LEGO Star Wars set!

5. Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama #75330 (2022)

Next up on our list is a set that we mentioned briefly before, it's one of the 6 sets from the Diorama Collection. The Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama is a great example of a LEGO Star Wars set that brings the movies to life! It's a 18+ set and is more for display than play, with its premium feel and plate at the front with a quote from the movie. Minifigures in this set include Yoda, Luke Skywalker in his Jedi training outfit and an R2-D2 with weathered printing from his crash landing on the planet! Luke also has a print on the reverse of his head of him concentrating on trying to levitate the sunken X-Wing, a print you can't get in any other set. The environment elements matches that of the film with the overhanging vines from the trees and the green bubbling swamp that the submerged X-Wing is sat in. We also get a look at the interior of Yoda's House, fit with pots, pans and even a concealed light saber hidden away at the top. All in all we love this Diorama set and can see why it's a fan favourite for adult Star Wars fans everywhere!

4. Millennium Falcon #7190 (2000)

The original Millennium Falcon from 2000 had to be on this list purely due to how iconic it is to LEGO Star Wars fans. It is by no means the best looking LEGO Millennium Falcon set (in fact most people would agree it's probably the ugliest!) but for 2000 it involved so many unique and advanced building techniques to pull off a faithful recreation of the ship. It has a removable top so that you can place the minifigs in the cockpit and living quarters, with iconic prop pieces such as the holographic  Dejarik board. Minifigures in this set include: C-3PO, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and R2-D2. These are all the first prints of the minifigs so they do look a little dated but for those who collected the original sets or those who played the LEGO Star Wars video games these minifigs are very familiar. This set is known for being the first of many LEGO Millennium Falcons, and paved the way for bigger and better versions of the iconic ship!

3. Mos Eisley Cantina #75290 (2020)

The spot for number 3 comes from a dangerous place, where you'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy! The Mos Eisley Cantina is the ultimate set for LEGO Star Wars fans who want a premium building experience and the most movie accurate minifigs to date! Releasing back in 2020 this set is part of the "Master Builder Series" and comes with a whopping 3187 pieces priced at a justifiable £344.99. You get your moneys worth for the amount of minifigs in this set as you get 21 unique characters from the Mos Eisley Cantina scene. You can check out the full list of minifigs below but the stand out unique characters that are immediately recognisable such as Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan and the Cantina band! Not only do we get to build the exterior of the cantina with the iconic domed roofing and pylons, you can open up the set to reenact the famous bar fight and even the "who shot first" scene featuring Han Solo and Greedo! The set also includes the first ever V-35 landspeeder adding to the overall value of this set. If all this weren't enough, the set even comes with a new Dewback with additional saddle so you can patrol the alley ways of Mos Eisley in style!

2. C-3PO #74398 (2024) & R2-D2 #75379 (2024)

The number 2 spot for our Top 10 LEGO Star Wars sets from the last 25 years is taken by everyones favourite Droid and Astro-Mech dynamic duo C-3PO and R2-D2! Yes we know we've been cheeky and added 2 sets for this spot but you can't have one without the other. Both of these sets are thematically appropriate for this list as they are to celebrate 25 years of LEGO Star Wars and did LEGO did a great job capturing their likeness. C-3PO is built posability in mind, being able to rotate his head and pose his arms. Parts that we love about this build are the smart building techniques to get a rounded head and the unique printed pieces for the face and chest piece showing off the internal wires. The set even comes with his silver leg as used in the original trilogy (something that has gotten the Total Cards staff in a bit of a debate as to whether it's movie accurate!) Each of the 25th anniversary sets come with a plaque displaying the facts a figures for the build and the C-3PO set even comes with a matching minifigure.

The R2-D2 display is just as awesome with a highly detailed build perfect for display. Unlike the C-3PO's 18+ age rating, this R2-D2 build is designed for 10+ so is much easier for younger Star Wars fans. It's designed more as a brick built toy figure to play with. Play features include a 360 degree rotating head, iconic details such as the attachable periscope and tools, as well as a detachable middle foot allowing you to display him in multiple forms. The feet of R2-D2 have rounded bases meaning that R2 can glide across smooth surfaces with ease, adding to the numerous play features this set offers. You also get not just 1 but 2 minifigures with the R2-D2 set including the astro mech himself as well as an exclusive Darth Malak minifigure from the "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" game. Both of these iconic sets are available to order from our site, so we highly recommend grabbing them now whilst stocks last!

1. UCS Millennium Falcon #75192 (2017)

It'll be no surprise that the UCS Millennium Falcon takes the Medal of Yavin for this list as it is the most desired LEGO Star Wars set to date! Built with a massive 7541 pieces, making it one of the largest sets to date a few 1000 pieces behind the LEGO Art World Map with its staggering 11, 695 pieces. The set is packed with authentic details to make an impressive display. The unique part of this particular set is the fact you can change the look of the ship to match the original era of the films or the updated look in the sequel era. To go with the 2 looks of the ship the UCS Millennium Falcon comes with 2 crews, so that builders can relive moments across the Star Wars saga. The minifigures include Han Solo (original trilogy and The Force Awakens) Rey, Finn, BB-8, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, 2 buildable Porgs and a buildable Mynock. You can open up the cockpit to pilot the ship and even man the cannons by placing your chosen hero behind the triggers. This version of the Millennium Falcon has the best recreation of the living quarters to date, with printed Holo-chess board and even printed tiles that create the illusion of the iconic rounded corridors. There's no doubt in our mind that the LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon set is the Ultimate challenge for builders whilst also ticking all the boxes for die hard Star Wars fans. As with other UCS sets and 25th anniversary sets you also get a display plate included featuring facts and figures about the famous ship.
