The Dragon Ball Super Card Game is packed with different card rarities that make collecting and playing super exciting. Knowing about these rarities is key for both players and collectors because they affect how cool the cards look and how valuable they are. Let's break down the different types of card rarities in Dragon Ball Super and see what makes each one special. The rarities of the cards are always letter designated in the bottom right of the cards.
Common (C) Common cards are the most basic and easy-to-find cards in the game. They’re the backbone of any deck and crucial for playing. Common cards usually have standard artwork and are printed a lot, so they’re easy to get. While they might not be as flashy as higher rarity cards, they’re important for building good decks and learning the game.
Uncommon (UC) Uncommon cards are a step up from common cards in terms of rarity and value. They often have slightly better artwork and might include more complex game mechanics. Uncommon cards give players stronger options for deck building, allowing for more strategic play. They’re less common than basic cards, making them a bit more desirable for collectors and players looking to beef up their decks.
Rare (R) Rare cards are a big upgrade in both power and looks. These cards often have enhanced artwork and might include holographic elements, making them stand out from common and uncommon cards. Rare cards are printed in fewer quantities, usually 1 per pack. In gameplay, rare cards can provide powerful abilities that can change the game, making them highly sought after.
Super Rare (SR) Super Rare cards take things to another level. These cards feature detailed and dynamic artwork, often with full-card foiling that adds a striking visual element. Super Rare cards are designed to be game-changers, offering unique abilities that can greatly influence gameplay. Their limited print runs make them highly collectible, and they often become the stars of many players’ decks.
Special Rare (SPR) Special Rare cards are similar to Super Rares in terms of gameplay impact but have unique artwork and special treatments. SPR cards often feature alternative artwork or extra foiling techniques, making them visually distinct and highly collectible. These cards are printed in even more limited quantities than Super Rares, adding to their exclusivity and value. Collectors and players love SPR cards for their powerful gameplay effects and stunning looks.
Secret Rare (SCR) Secret Rare cards are among the most coveted and valuable in DBS. They’re printed in very limited quantities and often have the most detailed artwork. SCR cards include unique abilities that can define the game, making them highly desirable for both gameplay and collection. The rarity and power of Secret Rare cards make them prized possessions for any DBS fan.
Promo (P) Promo cards are special because they’re not found in regular booster packs. They’re usually given out through events, tournaments, or promotions. Promo cards can vary a lot in terms of artwork and rarity, but they often have unique designs and abilities not found in regular sets. Collectors and players seek out promo cards for their exclusivity and the unique gameplay options they offer.
Alternate Art (AA) Alternate Art cards are special versions of existing cards with different artwork. These cards are often released as part of special sets, events, or promotions. Alternate Art cards offer a fresh visual take on familiar cards, making them highly desirable for collectors who love unique and diverse artwork. While they don’t usually offer different gameplay effects, their cool look and limited availability make them valuable additions to any collection.
Reboot Leader (RL) Reboot Leader cards are unique to DBS and represent a reimagining of existing leader cards with updated abilities and artwork. These cards offer new gameplay possibilities and strategies, allowing players to explore different approaches with familiar characters. Reboot Leader cards are usually released as part of special sets or promotions, making them both functional and collectible.
Foil (F) Foil cards can come in various rarities, from common to secret rare, and are distinguished by their holographic foiling. The foiling adds a shiny, reflective quality to the cards, enhancing their visual appeal. Foil cards are often more desirable than their non-foil counterparts due to their striking appearance and added rarity. Collectors and players value foil cards for their enhanced looks and collectible nature.
