Why You Should Pre-order Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora!

We're all familiar with James Cameron's colossal box office hit, Avatar. The world of Pandora drew us in with its sublime natural environment, commentary on how humans treat planets and their resources, and unique take on science fiction. Though there have been a few games released within this universe, nothing seems to be quite as impressive as the upcoming game from Ubisoft. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora transports you to Pandora as a Na'vi who has lost connection with their heritage, and from what we've seen this game looks colossal. So why should you pre-order? Well, we're gonna give you a few reasons!

A Recognisable Experience for Veteran Gamers

As you know, this game is by Ubisoft. This developer is one of the frontrunners in the gaming industry today, and they have some classic titles such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, the Assassin's Creed franchise, and Far Cry. Now, if you're a fan of the latter, you'll know that the formula for success is tried and true with this franchise. Spanning 14 games in total, with 6 main releases, the Far Cry franchise is easily one of Ubisoft's most successful. But why are we bringing this up? Well, the gameplay within Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be reminiscent of Far Cry with enough freshness to be a new experience as a whole.

This means if you're a veteran gamer, you're likely to pick up the controls and gameplay within Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora pretty quickly - meaning more time to explore and have fun. The studio behind the development is Massive Games, a studio within the Ubisoft name, and they are known for games such as; Tom Clancy's the Division, Ground Control, and the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws game. They've also, ironically, helped out within Far Cry 3 (arguably the best entry) and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. So there's plenty of big titles under their belt, and we're confident they will hit the nail on the head with this one.

A Stand-Alone Story

If you've seen Avatar, or it's sequel the Way of Water, you're familiar with how the story goes. Humans invade Pandora, humans threaten native species, humans lose in the end (with the combined forces of Na'vi and human together). But this game is taking a little bit of a turn. You are Na'vi, abducted and forced to fight for a cause that is not your own.

Fifteen years later, you have been freed, but must reconnect with your heritage and what it truly means to be Na'vi. Of course, there are still elements of humans doing bad things throughout the story, but the focus being a reconnection with the planet and your people is such a fresh take - we get to see more of the Na'vi and how they live within Pandora. The story looks to be so intriguing, and of course you get your own direhorse or ikran (more on that!).

If you're not particularly a big fan of flying, you can easily navigate the masse of floating rocks via the trail routes which are assisted by some helpful flora and fauna. You can bounce on plants, climb up vine networks and easily traverse the twisting branches of trees due to your Na'vi heritage. This looks like it's going to be a fantastic world to explore.

There are three types of bow that we know of; shortbow (for faster attacks), heavy bows (for high-damage sniping), and longbows (for general purpose shooting). These are reminiscent of the bow system within the newer Assassin's Creed games! Not only that, you can create special ammo such as taping grenades to arrows for a pretty impressive explosion. We're definitely excited to see what the combat system has in store for us!

Whilst this game is predominantly first-person, you will still get to see your creation in all its twisted glory (because let's face it, there's always one to make a weird character feel out of place in a cutscene) as there are third person scenes. Not only that, but you will have full customisation over gear such as armour and weapons, and perhaps we will see the likes of a "visual glamour" like the one that exists within Assassin's Creed Valhalla - where you can get the benefit of an ugly helmet but still look cool!

All in all, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks like a hugely impressive game - not to mention the flagship for Ubisoft at this point in the year. The beauty of Pandora has been captured and the experience of living as Na'vi is explored through exciting quests. If you'd like to pre-order Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, this game is available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for just £54.95!!
