Pokémon 25th Anniversary Announcement
As we are sure many of you are aware by now, this year marks the 25th anniversary of Pokémon, and there is a lot of exciting stuff planned this year! Let's have a look and see everything the Pokémon Company has in store for us!
Ever since its launch in 1996 Pokemon has been bringing people all over the world together. This year Pokemon aims to continue following the same fashion by teaming up with another traditionally unifying force - music. In collaboration with UMG (Universal Music Group) and is headlined by none other than pop icon Katy Perry, she accompanies fan-focused activations celebrating 25 years of Pokémon across the franchise’s portfolio of video games, mobile apps, animation, merchandise and more. To kick off the festivities this year, Pokémon has released a live-action video that highlights key moments in the brands 25-year history and visits many different regions the Pokémon world has to offer. As Pokémon said today "Every party needs a great playlist" and with its collaboration with UMG, The Pokémon Company International has announced that it plans to make 2021 the biggest Pokémon party in history and everyone is invited! Working with some of the biggest artists in music, from rising stars all the way to world-famous superstar. The program is titled P25 Music and Katy Perry was revealed today as the premier collaborator in the massive, yearlong music campaign. More details about Katy Perry’s participation, additional artist surprises and more about the P25 Music program will be announced throughout the year.Music isn't the only thing being influenced by Pokémon this year. The Pokémon Company International teaming up with some of the most iconic brands to help fans celebrate the journey all year long with unique promotions and merchandise. Some brands The Pokémon Company has collaborated with include Build-A-Bear, Levi's, McDonald's and many more! Fans can even look forward to more exclusive merchandise tied in with anniversary celebrations from licensees including Mattel, Funko, PowerA etc.
As for the Pokemon TCG which we know all you fans are dying to hear about. From 5th March players will be able to collect oversized cards featuring Pikachu as well as every other beloved starter Pokemon! These cards are showing the Pokemon's first appearance in the TCG reprinted with the 25th-anniversary stamp. These are going to be highly collectible and sought after! These will be released by region with the first one being Galar region and including the 3 Galar starters as well as 2 Pokemon TCG packs inside, every month after that the next starters will be released, working back until we reach Kanto starters on 8th of October 2021. As some of you will already know, cards from the 25th anniversary have already mistakenly appeared in packs, with people pulling some cards out of Vivid Voltage and Darkness Ablaze, you can view some of these cards in the media gallery below.
However that isn't all for you Pokemon fanatics out there, just announced was a special 25th anniversary set for Pokemon TCG, as of now there is no confirmed release date, but we can speculate that it will probably release along with the Kanto starters packs on October the 8th. This is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the fastest-selling and biggest sets Pokemon have released to date!
