Yu-Gi-Oh!'s OCG World Championship Qualifier stream delivered two big reveals this week, bringing fresh takes on two fan-favourite archetypes. A reworked Number 101 Xyz monster and an extended-art Dark Paladin fusion monster are both on the way in upcoming OCG releases, with TCG availability expected to follow in due course.
Number 101: Silent Honor ARK — Soul Asylum — Rank 4 WATER Aqua Xyz Effect Monster — ATK 2100 / DEF 1000
Xyz Materials: 2 Level 4 monsters. You can only use the (1)st effect of this card's name once per turn.
(1) You can detach 1 material from this card, then activate 1 of these effects: choose 1 Level 4 monster in your GY, except the detached material, and add 1 Level 4 monster with the same Type and Attribute, but a different name, from your Deck to your hand; or target 1 monster your opponent controls and attach it to this card.
(2) If this card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 material from it instead.
This reworked take on the iconic R4NK monster is set to debut in the upcoming UT01 set.
Dark Paladin — Wave-Motion — Level 8 DARK Spellcaster Fusion Effect Monster — ATK 2900 / DEF 2400
Fusion Materials: "Dark Magician" + 1 Level 7 or higher monster. Must be Fusion Summoned.
(1) Gains 500 ATK for every other monster on the field.
(2) Can attack all opponent's monsters once each.
(3) Once per turn, when your opponent activates a Spell Card or effect (Quick Effect): you can negate that effect, then you can destroy 1 card on the field.
(4) After this card destroys a card by battle or card effect and sends it to the GY, that card cannot activate its effects while in the GY.
This ultimate magical swordsman returns with a striking extended-art treatment in the upcoming Original Art Collection [OAC1].
Both cards come straight from the OCG stream and haven't been confirmed for TCG release yet, so expect names, wording, and set codes to firm up as more official details land. We'll keep an eye out for TCG confirmation and update stock as soon as pre-orders go live.
