Call to Adventure allows up to 4 players to craft an epic hero with an equally epic destiny by acquiring traits, facing challenges and overcoming obstacles. The game is quick to play as it typically takes 30 to 45 minutes per playthrough but does offer a challenge, being somewhat more complicated than games such as Catan or Carcassonne. Call to Adventure focuses on the mechanics of deck building, dice rolling, set collection, and storytelling. It features a unique "rune rolling" system for resolving challenges, a point-based system that encourages storytelling. Players begin the game with an origin card and two limited abilities, as they complete challenges they gain more abilities and grow in power. Failed challenges also allow your character to grow but may also set them on a dark path.
If you're interested in the base game then you'll want to pick up the Stormlight Archive expansion. This is a stand-alone expansion that shifts the action to the setting of Roshar, a world torn by storms and war. This version can be played alone or can accommodate up to 4 players in a new cooperative playstyle.
